U15 County Cup Rugby
On Tuesday Thomas Alleyne’s were hosted by Uttoxeter Rugby Club to take on the mighty St Josephs College from Trent Vale. St Josephs are a selective grammar school in Stoke-on-Trent who specialise in rugby.
We made a strong start to the game with some big tackles and dynamic runs. St Jo’s scored first but our heads remained up and we grew in confidence with Adam R scoring just before half time, a lightning break down the wing from Tyler nearly gave us the lead. In the 2nd half the experience, organisation and fitness of the away team began to take its toll and we struggled to gain possession. We continued to battle hard and the final score of 35-5 did not tell the tale of of effort and endeavour.
Player of the Match was Callum H as voted for by the opposition for his strong ball carrying and commitment in defence.
In the front row Adam F and Tom R gave there usual all action performances and were up with the highest metre makers in the game. Toby captained the side well and led by example at the breakdown. Our back row of Jonty, Adam R and Jack W is probably a match for any school team in the land and St Jo’s will certainly have gone home with some sore bodies. Oliver played his first game at scrum half and had a very good game providing service for Cory who used his full range of skills to try and create us opportunities. In the centres both Charlie and Spencer had their best games in a school shirt. At the back Sam pulled of some great try saving tackles, Tyler was threat with his pace and Ben read the play well.

U18 County Cup Football
On Wednesday we travelled to Fenton Manor to play Stoke City 6th Form College in the quarter finals of the county cup.
A couple of mistakes by our team let the college have a early 2 goal lead but with excellent play by Archer and Dawson in midfield we worked our way back into the game equalising through a Minshall header from a pinpoint corner from Dawson and a Ward header from a bullet cross from White. In the second half the game could have gone either way with us creating a number of very good chances. In the end it was the college that took their chances to progress to the next round 4-2. Man of the match Minshall for a fantastic display at centre back. Closely run by Chatfield at left back who at 15 was playing against 18 year olds.
