Support needed

We are currently struggling to recruit the number of invigilators we need for examinations. Unfortunately there is a national issue.  The role involves supervising students in their GCSE and A level examinations.

If any parent could offer to support the team we would be very grateful. Training will be provided. This is a paid role and support is required on individual days between 16th May and 28th June. You do not need to do all days and even a few days of help would be gratefully received.

If you are able to help please contact our examination lead Mrs Sosinski at sosinski@tahs.org.uk for details of how you could support us.

Motivational Speaker Tuesday 5th April 5.30pm for Parents.

Tim Benton – Motivational Speaker

“I want you to live at your best”

Once again we are fortunate to have at Thomas Alleyne’s Tim Benton to come talk to Year 11 pupils and parents.

Tim has the knack of challenging you to be better than you were before but without you really noticing. Through his disarming manner, his casual and entertaining style and his inarguable logic, he helps all those he works with – young and old – revaluate what they do, why they do it and whether they should be doing something else entirely.

Tim will be visiting school to work with Yr11 and Yr13 pupils, as well as parents. Pupils will hear Tim give advice and strategies about examination techniques and revision throughout the day and will then run a parents workshop in evening at 5.30pm in the school theatre.

Parents who have been to his talks always head home buzzing with ideas that are not only helpful in dealing with their children but also very relevant to their own careers and personal development.

Year 13 – mandatory revision techniques talk

Virtual Work Experience Opportunities in Health & Social Care

Live Virtual NHS Healthcare Careers Work Experience Programme – Allied Healthcare Mentor (alliedhealthmentor.org)

The Allied Healthcare Mentor programme has a series of virtual work experience days set up over the next few months.  They are designed for anyone in years 10-12 wanting to enter careers such as nursing, midwifery, paramedic science, radiography, speech & language therapy, physiotherapy etc.  Students will join remotely from home and will follow 2 patients through a journey from the A&E department through to discharge.  They will see all the different members of the healthcare team that the patients are involved in and can ask questions about these as career options.  The first opportunity to take part in this is on Sunday 3rd April, but there are monthly opportunities right through until September.  The cost for a day (10am – 5pm) is £10, and students can register to take part via the link above.
