Apprenticeship Talk 


For any sixth form students interested in apprenticeships we have the opportunity to be involved in a workshop with Workpays on the 26th January at 2pm. The workshop will cover how to search for and apply competitively for the roles which are out there. If you are interested in attending then please send an email to featherstone@tahs.net or contact me on teams chat.

Year 12

Could you be depressed?  What about your friends?  Visit the ‘Bright Knowledge’ website which leads to an online self-assessment on the NHS website.  Please talk to family, friends, your GP, teachers or the Sixth Form Team rather than suffer in silence.

Year 13

Watch the video about the level of personal support you can expect at universities:  student support services – Nottingham Trent uni.  For those not applying to university, please take a look at the Amazing Apprenticeships website or Unifrog VLE for live vacancies and career profiles.

Virtual Year 12 Parents Evening – Thursday 3rd February – 4.00pm – 7.00pm.

Sixth Form Uniform

Sixth Form uniform is smart business wear. Please can female students ensure that their skirts are not too short and are appropriate school wear.  Skirts should be suit style and not Lycra, body con, pleather (fake leather/vinyl) or the ‘stretchy’ style.

Sixth Form students are role models for younger pupils which includes behaviour and mask wearing.

Signing in and out

Students need to be on site from 8.40-3.05pm and that if they leave site briefly for food etc they MUST sign out and back in. This is both a legal and safeguarding requirement. No one should leave site to go to the gym or similar during the school day.

Checking email accounts

Reminder for students to check their .net email addresses regularly as some students are missing out on vital information.

Year 12 students GCSE certificates

Year 12 students can collect their GCSE certificates from the Sixth Form office.  Please collect them at break and lunch time only.

Grease Production News

Tickets will be on sale from Friday 21st January. The production will be on 9th, 10th, 11th of February in the school theatre at 7pm. Tickets will cost £7.50. Please purchase your tickets via ParentPay and take your receipt to Mrs Todd to select your seats. There are 140 seats maximum for each evening so please do not miss out! 

Data Collection

Many thanks to parents who have already returned data collection sheets. If you have not already done so, please check/update, sign the data collection sheet for your child and return it to the school office as soon as possible.  You can email/scan the sheet back to office@tahs.org.uk, or post it back to us at the usual school address. This information helps us to safeguard your child and enables us to contact you in an emergency.

Year 9 Parents Evening Tuesday 18th January 4pm – 7pm.


Subject staff look forward to meeting year 9 parents on Tuesday.  If you haven’t already booked your appointments please do so through Talxay.  It is an excellent opportunity for parents to discuss their child’s suitability for Gcse subjects with staff before option choices are made.


Year 9  Opportunity for IT Provision.

If you are a family with a child in year 9 and have difficulty accessing on line work, the school may be able to support you by providing a loan of a laptop.  There are laptops in school which are not being used, if you feel your son/daughter would make use of the laptop. please contact Mr Godwin at:  godwin@tahs.org.uk or phone school for further information

PE News

Racketball Club


We are starting a new after school racketball club on Wednesday’s.  The club will be suitable for beginners and more experienced players (boys and girls all year groups) with all equipment provided.  If interested you need to see Mr Scattergood in registration next week.

Miss Thorley would like to nominate Corey B and Max G from 9U3 for fantastic revision work.

Mrs Lambert would like to nominate all of 9U1 Biology – well done on an excellent piece of homework on diffusion in the human body. 

Also, Krishan K and Chloe N in 10H5 for excellent work on diabetes. 

Mrs Simpson would like to nominate Rowan S in 9U1 for an excellent end of unit test score for Chemistry.

Mrs Hughes would like to nominate Alfie B and Daisie J from 9U3 for excellent work in Chemistry.

Allies will not be on this Monday but it will return after school in room 21 the following week If you need allies or want to find out how to be an ally, please come along.


Latin Club

Latin club will resume on Monday lunch time for any sixth formers who are interested in getting involved. Whether you have been coming already or would like to give it a go, please feel free to pop into room 12 at lunchtime – don’t forget to bring your lunch!
