TAHS Weekly Newsletter.

 Headteacher blog:

Next week, we have our annual Art Exhibition. It is always inspiring to see students’ creativity on show. We would love it if you could find half an hour to pop in and join us for the evening. further details are below.

Congratulations to Year 11 who finished their examinations today. It was lovely to see them as they made their way out of their final examination but also sad to think that is their final school day with us. We look forward to seeing them for their leavers’ celebration when we will have the opportunity to say our goodbyes properly. Congratulations to them all for completing their examinations.

It was good to see so many of our Year 9 students participating in the House Cricket competition this week. We are in the final weeks before the House trophy will be awarded and so every point counts. Please remind your sons and daughters that every credit they receive counts towards the house competition.

You may be aware that our main corridor flooded this week. We have made it our priority to ensure this impacts on students as little as possible. However, if you are in school over the coming weeks you will see that we have needed to remove some flooring to allow the rooms to dry before we replace the carpets in the Summer holiday.

Meanwhile on a more positive note, our new build is progressing well and we look forward to seeing the new changing rooms, classrooms and gym completed by October. The pool and pool changing room refurbishment was finished this week and we are now able to get the pool back in action. Thank you to everyone involved.  If you know anyone, with younger children, who is looking for their children to have swimming lessons after school Lane 1 will be commencing their lessons from September in our school pool.

6th

Year 12 students have now completed a full week of mock examinations and there is still another week to go. We have been encouraging them to be revising in their non-contacts and to ensure that they have all the correct equipment with them to be successful in their exam.

Students should have handed back their acceptance letters for the UCAS convention on 25th June. If these have not been returned then could they please be done as soon as possible. If another letter is needed then please see Mrs Walton.

A big thanks to a couple of Year 12 students who helped to clean the Common Room kitchen this week, Lucas Rodgers and Alex Brain. It is important that all students tidy this area and that if crockery is used then it is washed up by the, all rubbish is placed in the bins provided and that all belongings are taken home at the end of each day. Food that is purchased outside of school should not be eaten in the canteen and that some rooms in Ross House are out of bounds to all students.

French Cuisine

30 year 8 students from Oldfields, Ryecroft and Windsor Park came to Thomas Alleyne’s for a French recipe challenge.

Despite really difficult authentic French they all managed to understand and create recipes in French helped by year 9 students.

Bon effort à tous!

BTEC Health & Social Care

We were pleased to welcome Mrs Schorah into our Health & Social Care lesson on Friday to tell us all about living with diabetes.  This information will help the students with their distinction work when they are writing care plans for people with different physiological disorders.
